Welcome to Our Yellow Brick Abode

Hey there, my name's Greta, i'm the lady behind the scenes!

It all started not long after the birth of our first son. I received a pair of woolen baby booties as a gift and instantly fell in love with the concept! Seeing as I was already on the natural fiber bandwagon, I just had to try recreating those cute little booties. So I did, and it took many, many pairs to really nail down a crochet pattern that I truly adored.

It's amazing how the Lord inspires us through our children to try things we never would have dreamed of doing! If you told me 5 years ago that I would be crocheting like it's going out of style, I would have said ya right, but babies have a way of totally transforming our lives for the better, if we let it happen. Anyhow, after numerous customizations and trials, I finally settled on the perfect design that you see here on our site.

In our little family of four, we strive to live a slow and intentional lifestyle. Our favorite way to combat today's worldly habit of consumerism and speed is to embrace the wise old skills of our great-grandparents and beyond. From crochet to cooking from scratch and stewarding the land, we continue to simplify life as a whole, eliminating as many distractions as possible. I will never forget the quote that a wise man once said, "If the devil can't make you bad, he'll make you busy."

Our mission here at the Yellow Brick Abode is to provide timeless, high-quality, and lasting products for growing families. We do our best to honor those who came before us and those who will come long after, while sharing the amazing and transformative Marian apparition stories along the way.

Above all, we seek refuge in the Lord, our heavenly Father, often leaning heavily on our Blessed Mother Mary for Her intercession.

We look forward to serving you & may God bless you always.

Common Questions

What is our mission?

We aim to keep babies cozy while sharing the love of our Blessed Mother Mary.

Where are the booties made?

It could be beneath the shade of our big old maple tree, in the presence our young children, or it may be tucked away cozy by the warmth of our wood stove on a chilly winter evening. I, Greta, the creative behind this project, make all the wool booties at home either in or around our yellow brick farm house.

What do the colours represent?

Each color of our booties represents a Marian apparition, helping to teach children and parents about the love of our Blessed Mother Mary.

Do you provide information cards?

Yes, we include a complimentary Marian apparition info card with each pair of booties that are purchased according to the dedicated colour that has been chosen.

Are the booties good for development?

Absolutely! They support quality balance and motor skills since the sole of the booties are thick enough to allow an element of safety but not too thick as to block the baby's ability to feel the ground beneath them. The booties are incredibly flexible due to the natural qualities of the yarn and sheepskin making a developing babies first steps a breeze.

What materials are used?

We use Peruvian highland wool yarn and sheepskins sourced in Ontario for the soles to ensure warmth, comfort, and durability for your baby's feet.
